Asif joined CBRE Caledon in February 2010 and has 12 years of direct infrastructure investment experience. Asif is responsible for the sourcing, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, and executing of infrastructure co-investments, as well as infrastructure funds and secondaries. Asif works closely with current and prospective clients to construct and implement infrastructure investment strategies, allowing investors to meet their short-term and long-term requirements.
Prior to joining CBRE Caledon, Asif worked in the Infrastructure Group at ADIA, a sovereign wealth fund and one of the world’s largest institutional investors. During his tenure at ADIA, Asif was an integral part of several infrastructure investments made by ADIA with an enterprise value totaling in excess of USD $12 billion.
Previously, Asif worked as an Assistant Vice President at Borealis Infrastructure. During his tenure, Asif was an integral part of several key investments made by Borealis. At both Borealis and ADIA, Asif was responsible for originating, analyzing, structuring, and negotiating large global infrastructure transactions, as well as developing and implementing ownership transition plans and ongoing asset management.
At both institutions, Asif has been involved with over USD $2.5 billion of equity invested in large global transactions, and over USD $6 billion of fully-financed binding equity commitments. These investments and commitments were made in a fiduciary capacity in a variety of infrastructure sub-sectors, including transportation (e.g. toll roads, ports, airports), energy (e.g. midstream, storage, power generation), utilities (e.g. water and sewerage, gas distribution, electricity transmission and distribution), as well as telecommunications (e.g. satellites).
Prior to Borealis, Asif worked in the consulting group of Deloitte in Toronto.
Asif received his Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto in astrophysics and is a CFA and CAIA Charter holder.
